Day 3/4 : Acropolis Museum, National Gardens, Athens

On our trip I learned about one of Javi's hidden talents. :)

Day 4: Stroll on the beach and around the port & a nice dinner on the promenade

Arvanitia Beach, just a 3 minute walk from our beautiful pension. :)

I couldn't resist to attempt to be artistic here.

Day 5: Palamidi Castle, Bourtzi Fort, Akronafplia Fortress

Palamidi Castle

Javi and I climbed 990 steps to get to the top of the castle. We were rewarded greatly with the views of the sea and town below.

Here you can see what if left of one of the fortresses (on the hill), the walk along the hillside from the beach to the town and a little part of the town.

The ruins were beautiful; the stones were a mixture of orange and beige and there were flowers blooming every where.

Bourtzi Fort: We took a boat over to this little island. Interestingly enough, Bourtzi started off as a fort, then it was used a a prison, later an anglo-saxon turned it into a hotel (where apparently John F. Kennedy stayed) and now it has been left to the tourists.

Still happy after a long day of walking. :)

We fell in love with this little port side town. The streets, building and squares were all so beautiful and full of color.

Day 6: Sunset and a walk by the port

Javi and I in front of a beautiful sunset on our first night in Heraklion.

Day 7: Cretaquarium, Fortress, city walk

The Cretaquarium: It isn't my most favorite aquarium, but it had some very interesting fish to look at.

This In this tank there were 4 divided parts each with different colored pebbles and sand. In each part there was a baby cod and they all camouflaged into their setting.

I'm not sure who this statue is of, but the views from this point were great.

We walked through this little park and couldn't resist the swings.

For dinner on both nights in Heraklion we went to the same restaurant; we enjoyed it so much the first time we decided to return. On the second night Javi ordered spaghetti with mussels, but he didn't expect to get 2 kilos of it!
